Why is a GSAT training course required?

Department for Transport Direction (12j) states that all staff who require access to the Restricted Zone (that is who require an airside staff pass) must first attend a General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) course produced by a DfT approved training provider. Existing airside pass holders have until 19 January 2009 to comply. New applicants for airside passes, and staff renewing an existing pass, must comply now.

This GSAT training course has been specifically designed for the internet. It features professional film sequences taken at a major UK airport, easy-to-understand pictograms, on-screen text to emphasise key points and a glossary of abbreviations and technical terms. It is not a series of slides transferred to the internet, but a programme designed with every airport worker in mind.

The course is short and easy to use and can take under an hour to complete. At the end of the course, there is a multiple choice test which has to be taken in order to receive your certificate. You will need this certificate as part of your application or re-application for an airport pass.
